 Boundary Waters Canoe Area

Smoke Lake Crew

SuperTroop 540 sent three crews to the BWCA.  Two to the Smoke and Sawbill Lake area and one went traveling.

Here are the Smoke Lake boys...  Alex

...and Travis...

and Tyler!

The campsite lovingly called "The Rock"  This is the fire area.

The scouts made a non permanent kitchen.  It really worked out well too.

And here is home sweet home for the crew of six...

Out fishing.  This is the main reason that the Smoke/Sawbill Crews went to the BWCA

It rained every day.  Here Alex was trying for Small mouth bass during the rain.

After the rain "The Rock" was the place to fish...

Alex and a couple of nice walleyes.

Tyler and the biggest walleye of the week.  24 1/2 inches.

Travis and his nice stringer.

The old guy giving Alex some tips on flipping pancakes!

Tyler's dad taking advantage of a quiet moment.

Travis did the fish cleaning.  We have several meals of walleyes, northerns, and smallies.  Fried, Deep fried, and poor man's lobster with browned butter sauce....  Yum...

Aren't these some beautiful fillets?  Nice job Travis!

Troy out fishing...

Travis on a rock.  The rock is several inches under the water and is a great place to fish

It got a little quite in the fishing department so the boys had a game of Farkle

Alex and his dad had enough "guts" to brave the chilly northern Minnesota water.

One of our many visitors.  Can you identify it?  Yup, a beaver.  along with otters, eagles, vultures, and seagulls.

If you look real close, you can see my slip bobber in the foreground.  Beautiful.
