Welcome to the beautiful Crystal Lake, home of the best Aquatics program in all of Scouting!

 

Merit Badge Prerequisites* Comments
Canoeing (B) Be a swimmer (SR) Req. 2 (CPR) can be completed at home.
Fishing (C) None Bring your gear
LIFESAVING (B) Be a swimmer (SR), Req. 1a (SR), Swimming MB (recommended) Req. 13 (CPR) can be completed at home. Must bring long pants, long sleeve shirt and belt for disrobe. Alternative to Emergency Preparedness.
Rowing (C) Be a swimmer (SR) Req. 2 (CPR) can be completed at home.
Smallboat Sailing (B) Be a swimmer (SR) Req. 1b (CPR) can be completed at home.
SWIMMING (C) Be a swimmer (SR), Req. 3 (SR) Req. 2 (CPR) can be completed at home. Bring light pants & lightweight long sleeve shirt for clothes inflation. Alternative to Hiking or Cycling.

Boardsailing (B) Be a swimmer (SR) Not a Merit Badge
BSA Lifegard (A) Be a swimmer and 14 or older (SR). Bring CPR certification card to camp or attend CPR certification MTW, 2:00-3:30. Adults are also welcome to participate.

Kayaking (C) Be a swimmer (SR) Not a Merit Badge
Snorkeling (C) Be a swimmer (SR) Not a Merit Badge

Special Notes

  • You must pass the swimmers test in order to do any merit badge or activity badge offered at the Waterfront. Those not able to complete the swimmers test are welcome to attend instructional swim at 10:30 am or 2:00 pm Monday - Friday.
  • Speak to a Waterfront staff member if you are interested in doing the mile swim award. You must commit to doing training laps every afternoon in order to do the mile swim on Friday.
  • Safe Swim Defense & Safety Afloat training for adult leaders is offered on Thursday at 2pm.
